Real Wedding - Julie & John 7.19.08

This had to be one of the hottest days of the summer. Truly, it was barely tolerable for Julie & John to grab a few outside photos. Once the sun went down though, it was a beautiful night. The ceremony took place at Julie's alma mater - St. Ursula Academy Chapel in Walnut Hills. The reception followed at the Bell Event Centre. Julie & John hired a rock star crew of vendors including April from Bluebird Photography, Courtenay Lambert and Nancy from Brideface. We had a great time at this wedding. It was a day full of joy and plenty of laughter!

Julie looks stunning in this photo.

You would never know such a gorgeous chapel was just inside these doors.

The aisle flowers by Courtenay Lambert smelled fantastic. Programs by Pink Ink.

Love the combintation of aqua and pinks.

Don't even ask how many candles there were in the room...

More gorgeousness (I'm not sure that is a word!) from Courtenay Lambert.

Menu cards & table numbers also by Pink Ink.

LOVE this cake. Courtesy of the Bonbonerie

This is how Julie & John were all day/evening... laughing and enjoying themselves.

Love this photo.

Real Wedding - Andrea & Drew 5.3.08

After the whirlwind year CEP had last year, we are just now getting around to posting some of our images from last wedding season. Andrea & Drew were married at the gorgeous Episcopal Church of the Redeemer located in Hyde Park. The team of vendors included - Photosmith (photography), Make-up by Brideface, and Flowers by Cincinnati Urban Floral Design.

How cute are these little guys? All nephews of the bride & groom.

The whole bridal party in the courtyard of the church . Love the MOH dress!

Gorgeous Peonies!

Custom designed programs by the brilliant Kristen of Letterheads. Kristen also designed the couple's invitations and place cards.

The reception followed at the Hall of Mirrors at the Hilton in downtown Cincinnati.
The art deco design of the hotel made for some fabulous photos.

The stunning room. Goodwin provided the custom lighting.
Heavenly cake by Bonbonerie - it almost looks too good to eat!

One Bride, Three Boards

I met Nicole last week and it was clear she needed help creating a vision for April 2010 wedding. Based on her ideas, I came up with these three boards. Which one is your favorite?

Emergency Kit Essentials

I've been asked by many brides what's in my 'emergency kit'. And recently a videographer friend of mine asked what the essentials were - he wants to have some items handy when things fall apart (literally!) and the bride and groom have not hired a wedding planner or DOC.

So... I've inventoried my giant suitcase. Many of the items on the list have multipurposes, so instead of listing by use, I listed alphabetically. It works better for my type A personality this way too! At the very bottom, you'll see some items that we make sure we keep handy if there are little ones around. It makes the day less stressful when you can keep those little hands & minds preoccupied.

Have questions about what a certain item is used for? Suggestions for other items to add? Leave us a comment!

cep spotlight

CEP spotlight is a new feature where we'll feature vendors that are new or on our favorites list. This week is a bakery in Anderson Twp. - Inspiring Kind - a refreshing approach to baking owned by Mary Richmond & Teresa Olivas.

How did you come up with the name Inspiring Kind?
First, part of our mission is to inspire through what we do, and partly because we offer inspirational quotes within our product line. We also feel this name best exemplifies our
product line overall and fits us well! Secondly, we have always been asked… What kind of cookies do you make? What kind of cupcakes? What kind of sweets? We literally used “inspiring kind” as a way to describe our products, and it became a way to open up dialogue about what we do. Lastly, we’d like to think inspiringkind is the flipside of “inquiring minds” so, actually, it was a no brainer for us.

Overall business philosophy?
CREATE, CULTIVATE, CELEBRATE! This encapsulates everything we want to express and achieve every day.

One thing you want everyone to know about Inspiring Kind?
(Teresa) I would want to make it known that we are more than just a bakery. We have comfortable surroundings here and when you add comfort food, you can’t help but feel at home! We host birthday parties, bridal, baby showers, and special events here, offering savvy sweets and savory conversational platters.

(Mary) That we bake for goodness sake! Our “secret” ingredient isn’t a secret at all…the love and passion we have for our work is the main ingredient that goes into each and every recipe.

What is your favorite item on your menu?
(Mary) Wedding wise, hands down it would have to be our “Groovy” chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream. Classic, but sophisticated enough for a wedding.
(Teresa) It’s a tough call, probably our Organic Banana Cake or our newest menu member Oat and Berry Bar. It is low in sugar, full of nuts, 3 berries, and wholesome goodness. It will sustain me through a busy day. Trust me, this is the ultimate granola bar! We’ll even make them heart shaped for weddings.

Seaside Inspiration

I found inspiration for this board in two places. First , in an email annoucing the new Ann Taylor wedding & events collection - love the fabrics, colors & styles. Second - the handled with care blog - her Oceanfront invitation was a bit different from the normal "beachy" wedding themes - sort of a country club chic, classic twist. The two fit perfectly for the seaside board below.

Top row: Bridesmaid dresses - Ann Taylor ~ Oceanfront invitation - handled with care

Middle row: Breezes Runaway Bay ~ centerpiece - Katie Elfers ~Bouquet - Courtenay Lambert

Bottom row: Cake - Wolfgang Puck Catering - The Knot ~ Freshwater pearl necklace - Island Wedding Shop ~ Out of town bags - The Knot ~ Hair - The Knot
