vinoklet winery - networking event

On Tuesday night we had a great time at the networking event held at the Vinoklet Winery in Colerain. The Vinoklet has been one of my favorite locations for years. It's a cozy, family-owned winery with beautiful grounds. It's the perfect spot for a rehearsal dinner, intimate wedding, girls night out or date night. We did a wine tasting and then enjoyed a glass of our favorite variety. Both Lindsey and I chose a "spicy white" Traminette. It's received numerous awards at the Cincinnati Wine Festival. I'd highly suggest you stop by and give it a try.

It was great to catch up with some of our favorite people including Matt Pine, Steve + Reagan Z., Sara Streit and Jen Nally (fabulous on-site hair).

And now for the photos.... taken by Tom Taylor photography with his point + shoot.

So the next two need a bit of explaining. There was a raffle at the end of the evening for bottles of wine. The first winner was able to select her favorite and then the second winner took home the remaining three bottles. Guess who the second winner was???
Linds confirming she can really have all three... We're lucky she's so sweet. She kept one for herself and gave me the red and Matt Pine his favorite, the Riesling.

video - now this is thinking outside of the box

Love this video (via RocknRoll Bride). It's creative, has a TON of personality and is fun. Obviously not for everyone but I love that this couple took a risk to make their wedding their own.

anne + brendy = engaged

Anne + Brendy are a ridiculously good looking couple (you should see their mothers!), but their looks are nothing in comparison the sweet, down-to-earth and fabulous people they both are. I've been looking forward to sharing their amazing engagement pictures courtesy of one of my fave photographers, April @ Bluebird Photography.
Um, hello, how hot is that last shot???

I asked Anne + Brendy to share their story and thoughts heading into their wedding day... so in their own words here we go...

How we met
We met at Indiana University during our senior year of college - at an IU Dance Marathon Date Auction! It is surprising that it took so long for us to meet. For one, wehad many mutual friends. We also lived just a few houses away from each other on 3rd Street in Bloomington - Anne in the Pi Phi House and Brendy in the Fiji House. Neither of us were looking for a serious relationship, but some good things are just inevitable!

The Proposal
Brendy proposed on a rainy May day in Chicago. As we were both planning to leave Chicago, Brendy told me that he had planned a special day for us as a way to remember the city that we had come to love. Starting with pancakes at our favorite breakfast spot, and ending with the Michigan Avenue Bridge, Brendy took me to a number of our favorite locations in the city. At each place, I found a note waiting for me. At the last location, the Michigan Avenue Bridge, Brendy stopped and underneath a single umbrella, dropped to one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.

What we are most looking forward to
We are most looking forward to being surrounded by all of our family and friends. Since moving to the east coast, we don't get to see everyone all that often. We feel very lucky to be able to celebrate with all of the people who have made us who we are today.

We're also looking forward to dancing all night long to the fabulous band, Johnny Clueless!

Favorite Detail
Our color scheme: navy and sage. It's a pretty unusual color scheme and it has been fun thinking of little ways to work it into both the ceremony and the reception. Navy is one of my favorite colors and I chose green because it's a natural, earthy color that will look good with the park's surroundings.
The Honeymoon
We're going on a mini 5 day honeymoon to Cabo San Lucas right after the wedding and then taking a bigger trip after Brendy graduates from Grad school. We're planning on traveling around Europe for a few weeks. Our last stop will hopefully be the Greek Isles.

loving these colors

The color board for an upcoming summer wedding. I love how the secondary accent colors tangerine and raspberry pop against the navy and sage. It's going to be stunning.

julie + john = happy anniversary

Julie + John were married at St. Ursula Chapel on July 19, 2008. An incredible reception followed at the Bell Event Centre. Julie is the bride who made me love pink again. Normally, I'm not a pink kind of girl, but the gorgeous flowers Julie chose really changed my mind. I loved the color scheme, the candles + the couple. Be sure to take a look at their client page - it's one of my favorites. Julie + John used amazing vendors including Bluebird Photography, Courtenay Lambert Florals, Brideface, Pink Ink + Bonbonerie. Happy anniversary Julie + John, hope your first year was full of laughter + love.

Sneak Peek: Meg + Kevin Engagement

I had to leave Pinehurst before Meg and Kevin got their engagement photos taken, so I was so excited when I got the link today. Besides being a gorgeous couple, when Meg showed me her dress and adorable yellow shoes, I had no doubt that the pictures would be anything but amazing....and they are!!! Check out Lacey Gadwill's site for more engagement photos of Meg and Kevin.

leah + matt = happy anniversary

photo: Reece Booth

Leah + Matt are two of my all-time favorite people. Smart, witty, sincere and oh so much fun. I had a fabulous time planning the wedding with the two of them. I think we laughed 80% of the time while we were meeting. Leah + Matt chose a pale lemony yellow + chocolate color scheme and every detail came together perfectly (see them here) for their afternoon wedding + reception on July 5th, 2008.

Leah + Matt have amazing families as well, which we got to know while planning the rehearsal dinner at the Celestial... the place where Matt proposed to Leah. The all-star team of vendors included Chenese Bean, Reece Booth, http://www.iconographystudios.com/ Courtenay Lambert Florals, Clark Graphic Design + staff at the Madison.

Congratulations you two, can't believe how fast time flies. Love you both!

amanda + zach = happy anniversary

photo: Steph Carson

Amanda + Zach were married on July 5th, 2008 in the Rose Garden at Spring Grove. It was a steamy afternoon but the ceremony was beautiful (with a very shy but adorable ring bearer). Amanda was so sweet and phenomenal to work with. She was so relaxed all day - even with the heat + humidity + bugs. The reception followed at Receptions South - see all of the details on their client page here.

I keep up with Amanda by following her + Zach's journey into parenthood on their blog Winning Baby. Sending you good thoughts + lots of luck!!!
